Introduction to team coaching
An effective team can achieve so much, and often within the workplace, leaders value support to create the most optimum team. Through our range of team coaching solutions, we can support that transformation within the workplace. Team coaching provides a safe space for the team to move forward with their challenges and goals while learning from one another.
How we work
Team coaching is generally run as a group session for 6-20 delegates and offers each group member an opportunity to work on their individual and team goals, whilst the team coaches manage the sessions as a neutral observer to the team. We can create a programme of events to support a team overcome a series of challenges or offer a one-off training session. We also often find that as part of this process, it works well to support some of the key leaders with more personalised executive coaching.
What is team coaching
There is a variety of ways team coaching can support organisations. Typically we may see there are three types of situations where a team may benefit from coaching. First, there may be an existing team working well together, and they may lack clarity in direction, or identity. Second, the team may be facing issues and not working well together, therefore needs to increase their understanding of each other’s working styles. And finallyu, there may be a new team who want to work out how they operate most effectively. Interestingly, the coaching topics we might look to cover to overcome these scenarios are similar, although naturally, we would consider them with a different lens.
Through our group sessions, we might work through some of the following questions:
- What is the team’s purpose and identity?
- What is our understanding of the team’s strengths and watch outs?
- What feedback can we provide to one another?
- What is happening within the team?
- How can we work better together?
- How can we appreciate each other’s working styles better?
- How can we communicate more effectively?
- And, how do we manage team conflicts?
